Bible Study

Wednesdays @ 7:00 PM

Our gatherings provide an opportunity for reflection, discovery and discussion about the Bible. Bible Study is free and open to the public.

Children's Church

Children’s Church meets every Sunday at 10:45 AM to share through stories and song the love of Jesus Christ. Children of all ages are welcome.

Gregor Chorale

Our choir is small but committed to worshipping the Lord through song. The Gregor chorale performs regularly on Sundays during Worship throughout the year, except during the summer when individual or small group selections of music are offered by members of the congregation.

Our choir leader is our organist, Valeda Bell. Rehearsals are held regularly after Worship on Sunday afternoons, and at additional times when necessary for special events or programs. The Gregor Chorale is for adults, and anyone willing to contribute their voice to praising the Lord is welcome.

Steel Band

We are host to the one and only Steel Band on Staten Island. Comprised of steelpans (a.k.a. steel drums), youth — and a few adults — learn to play both Christian and contemporary songs on these quintessentially West Indian instruments. No prior musical experience is required.

Lessons are $10 per session, and with teacher Peter Joseph and/or adult church members. Children ages 7 and up are welcome.

The steel band band has performed at different churches around the city and are available for travel! For further information, or to inquire about bookings, contact the church office at Office@VanderbiltMoravian.org

The Giving Library

The Giving Library of Vanderbilt Avenue Moravian Church collects donated books, both new and gently used, for toddlers through adults, and distributes them to the local community and beyond. We especially want to encourage literacy and expand the horizons of younger children.

The library was established in 2009 with the help of our congregation and the other three Moravian Churches on Staten Island. So far, we have collected over 20,000 books and distributed books to adults and children both near and far.
We regularly distribute books at special events, to other organizations and churches, and at our monthly Moravian Community Dinners.

Back to School Project

When it’s time to go back to school, we join together as a community of faith and purchase school supplies for the children of families in need.  We feel it is important to do all we can to help the youngest and most curious among us to start out right. We also welcome donations for this purpose from the wider community.

Vacation Bible School

For Vacation Bible School (a.k.a. “Church Camp”), we devote one week during summer vacation for children to have an opportunity for fun and play while learning about what the church has to offer. We have music, crafts, food and fun!
